Here’s a great little bag hot off the loom – This envelope clutch is handwoven with natural cotton yarn and one plastic bag from the NY Musuem of Art and Design gift shop that my brother-in-law gave me.  The bag was cut into strips that were  hand placed to create an abstract pattern.  Metallic copper colored yarn was added to the warp for a bit of sparkle.  The plast ic bag was just large enough to make this one clutch.  It is lined with contrasting colored duct tape and has a magnetic flap  closure.  Dimensions: 11″ x 6.5″

Price $50

Everyone wears a costume

May 19, 2010

One of my favorite things about living in New York City, is people watching.  Whether it is a bag lady or a fashionista, everyone is wearing a costume.  I used to check out clothes, shoes and accessories but now I only see the plastic bag they carry.  I am always on the prowl for a plastic bag with a great color or bold graphics.  When a bag captures my attention,  I find myself trying to maneuver around them on the street to see where the bag is from and if I get up the nerve, ask them if I can have it.
